I’d Rather Hide

I will never let the world see my pain. It isn’t in my nature to talk about feelings. So, I’ll just keep them secret.

I won’t ever wear my heart upon my sleeve. It’s locked behind a forcefield and protected by a ninja.

I’d rather hide behind the labels on my clothes, avoiding eye contact with mirrors, and disappearing in the crowds at coffee shops and sports bars.

Since it is convenient, I’ll keep blaming the ancient history, my childhood daydreams, and a self defeating thought that’s haunted me for years.

That way it won’t be my fault… when I’m misunderstood and alienated from my friends. I didn’t bring them into this. And, they never should have cared about my feelings in the first place.
