All my Fours

I’ve just been at it way too long,
to watch my world crumble now.
To see my people suffering,
from what I haven’t done.

I’m going to keep on pushing,
cause it’s all I’ve ever known.
Gonna fight till all my muscles cramp,
and when my legs won’t walk,

I’ll get down on all my fours,
till I have nothing left outside
but my own two hands to fight with.
I’ll use them to drag the rest of me.

And If my hands give in to stiffness
I’ll be forced to crawl like infantry…
I’ll use my teeth if limbs stop working.
and If my body fails me,

I promise to be ornery as my spirit rises.
Death will show too soon.
I’ve just been at it way too long
to leave these things undone.
