Mother and Wife

I just saw a video clip
about a 21 year old mother and wife,
missing for five days until yesterday.
She was found in ravine, alive,
with her legs pinned under the dash,
and the roof caved in on her truck.
She put her head out the window
and she waved to the rescue team.
She doesn’t remember crashing,
but she does remember
living through five days
trapped inside her vehicle
with no food and no water.
And she is talking to her family now.
So I’m going to speculate
that she was thinking about her family
while she was starving and thirsty,
numb to the pain that her legs must be feeling…
but she didn’t cry.
She pushed on like the strong willed mother and wife
that she was when she fell into that ravine.
It’s just sad that it took such a bad accident
for her to get our attention.
