Rejection hurts…

The New Yorker magazine turned down the opportunity to publish a few of my poems. I sent them my submission after my creative writing teacher suggested that I try to publish a few of the assignments I turned in last semester. The rejection letter came in the form of an email, and it simply said:

“Thank you for giving us the opportunity to consider your work. We regret that we are unable to carry it in the magazine.

Warmest regards,

The Editors”

I did not have high hopes to begin with, but I hated to see that email before work yesterday. So the Crazy Horse poem I posted was from the rejection pile, and is now self-published on my blog.
